Internet Business Statistics - February 28, 2011

Internet Business StatisticsOne of the most important business statistics that you will want to watch and track is the average amount of time a customer or potential customer spends on your website. This average time should be based on what your internet business is and how it works. For example, if you are selling e-books or any sort of information or content, you will want the average time that a person spends to be longer than average. If people are interested in the content on your website and what you have to offer, they will likely be staying on your site for a while to read and browse. There are even methods of seeing how many pages a person views during their visit.

Of course with whatever kind of business you are running, you will want visitors to stay as long as possible. The purpose of your web address should be to convert these visitors into customers. The only time that short visits to your site are profitable for you is when you are using pay per click or cost per action ads that earn money for you when someone clicks on them. So, if a person visits your website and leaves right away because they clicked on an ad, you are still making money from that person. However, if you are not using these types of ads and are experiencing many short visits, there is something that you need to change.

If you are selling products directly from your website, short visits will not be so bad. You will want to be concerned with the business statistic of how many visitors visit your site and take the actions you want them to. If you have an opt-in page, your visitors should spend very little time on this page. Opt-in pages are meant to get the point of your business, products or services across to the visitor in a short amount of time. If the page is designed well, this will lead them to take action quickly. When visitors spend too much time on these pages, you will want to consider making changes to these pages.
